This part is for all A1 / 24” / D Size plotters listed below.
The encoder strip is easily damaged due to its position in a plotter. It is the thin metal strip that runs the full width of the printer, and can be seen when you open the top cover. If this is damaged, the carriage cannot count the small lines on it properly, and can be in the wrong position. Symptoms include lines appearing staggered instead of straight.
