The service station resides in the right hand side of the DesignJet 500 and 800 series of plotters. It’s main function is to cap the printheads to prevent them drying out in between printing. It also has a number of cleaning systems, like wipers and spittoon areas to remove any excess ink or dirt building up on the bottom of the printheads.
Over time, the service station fills up with ink which prevents it moving freely. When this happens, the front panel will display an error of 21:10
We advise that a service station should be replaced during a routine service to prevent future failure.
